Introducing The New York Festival of Light

WHAT: On October 24th 2013 New York City will join the ranks of many other important cities around the world such as Berlin, Lyon, Sydney and Amsterdam, with the launch of ‘First Light’. The New York Festival of Light’s inaugural kickoff event will be for one night only as a formal introduction of the Festival. First Light will take place in the outdoor garden of the Elizabeth Street Gallery on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan. This iconic garden will be adorned with lighting installations, lighting sculptures and projections. Attendees will be treated to a small flavor of things to come in future festivals. Designers, artists, celebrities and festival supporters will be attending, expressing their love of light and their desire to propel New York onto the world stage as an iconic member of the world lighting festival community.The New York Festival of Light LLC (NYFOL) is a public art group, committed to enhancing architecture and people’s lives through light and projection. The aim of the organization is to celebrate the potential and power of light in a fun and public manner. The festival bridges artistic creativity and functional aesthetics. In 2014, the New York Festival of Light will expand into a 3 day lighting festival that mixes traditional and non-traditional forms of illumination with a heavy concentration on energy conservation and sustainability. NYFOL creates a synergy between artists, manufacturers, the public and local municipalities through light.
WHO: Pre-event interviews available with:

  • Ira Levy – Festival Co-Founder – A multiple award-winning lighting designer who produces clean,
    contemporary and eco-friendly designs with a “Green” sensibility. He is recognized for combining
    unparalleled originality and technical expertise.
  • Liam O’Braion – Festival Co-Founder – A international producer who has managed high-profile events
    specializing in automotive, sport, aviation, music, holiday, and motor-cross clients including Cole Bros.
    Circus, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Range Rover.
  • Preston Bailey – Festival Supporter – Globally-celebrated for his unique ability to transform ordinary spaces
    into lush, theatrical environments, Preston Bailey is known as the premier event designer .
    Additional celebrities and VIP’s – to be announced at a later date – will be available for on-site interviews and photo
    opportunities.

WHEN: Pre-event interviews can be arranged on an individual basis.The kick off event is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th5:30 PM – 7:30PM: Interview opportunities and photos are available from 5:30-7:30 pm; other times may be
possible based on availability.

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Lighting Show / Live Performances / Bar / Food
